Owl be missing you

Ohhhhhhhh I just sat writing a post..this post...then somehow deleted the lot!! AGHHHHHHH!!! Right, lets try again. Stampotique Designer's Challenge time.... and this fortnights challenge is Buttons and Birds. Not something, if I'm honest, that I've matched up before, but I'm game for anything new.

I discovered some 'We'll Meet Again' song sheet paper in an old stash which spring boarded me in to putting this card together for the theme. Dame Vera Lynn, who sang this iconic song, is a patron of a special needs school that my son attended for under fives and we met her on numerous occasions. She comes across as having plenty of time for people....anyway, I digress, the card was a simple make. Matt and layering, bits of cutting out and a bit of distressing some of the edges. I used the Owl with Wings stamp and cut out a wing to place over his left eye so he is peeping out. I designed the stamp with wings that almost mirror image themselves, so if you design anything where you need double sided wings it's possible to do that with this stamp.

You can also cut the owl off his branch and sit him anywhere you choose :0) He doesn't mind, he's quite accommodating. I added buttons, thread, used the Stampotique phrase 'Just Sitting Here Thinking Of You' and a few of Daniel's Hearts for added background detail behind Owl (you might just be able to spot these in the close up at the top of the post)along with the direct ink pad to paper swishiness with added water splashes (thats the dark brown background). I finished by added a few leaf punch shapes.

I hope you can take part in the challenge theme. Don't forget its just Stampotique stamps allowed, but that doesnt stop you using some collage images and other methods of mark making along with your Stampotiques that you might own....and then you'll be in with a chance of winning a $30 gift cert to choose yourself some rubber from the Stampotique store!

Off to open all the windows and doors and let the chickens out of their house into the shady paddock. This heat is certainly making a difference- I'm more a spring person or autumn, not hot hot summer.

Love this owl, the possibilities with him are endless! On another note, I thought of you yesterday when I was sitting on Stealth - the weird things that go through your head when you're scared silly huh??!!!

This is terrific Jo! I really want to come up with a good owl pun but I can't right now... OWL just have to give it some thought!!!! Obviously I've had a bit too much sun, I'll just slink away... quietly... and hide... Jo x

How I love that owl - at times he is cute, wise, cheeky and now shy.

Bless him - I love the coy look from behind this wing - and all the layers created with all those techniques - stunning.

I didn't get on the computer yesterday - spent the day baking - I know - but I had to feed a bowls team - for free!

I am 'holed up' indoors too today all fhte ceiling fans going, blinds closed, windows open and still it's hot hot hot. My little bantams are as quiet as can be, and all flaked out dozing under the conifer hedges around the garden - it's even too hot for them!
