Distressed Vintage? (..kind of ?...a little maybe?)
This weeks challenge over on the Stampotique Designers Challenge site has the theme, set by Milo, of 'Vintage'.
* visions of tumble weed rolling on by through my mind*
hellllllllllllllp lol
Anyyywaaaaaaaayyyyyyy...I love a challenge me,(said in my best northern twang) lol
I used to 'do' Vintage without a care in the world a few years back but just lately I seem to have got pretty far away from what I saw as being that, so this was a tough one for me. I first of all googled 'Vintage' to see what I could 'get away with' and found that the word is mainly used to describe wine but can also be linked with anything older than the current day(20 years older seems to be the happy medium to be classed as vintage )and that portrays a feel of its era and age.
All the stamps used on this giant tag are by STAMPOTIQUE. Infact they happen to be all from my range at Stampotique (big grin).
Below you can find the links to all the Stampotique stamps used on this tag at the HAPPY DAZE website, as Stampotique are soon due for their annual break from doing all things rubbery, so those UK stampers amongst us may like to check out the following;
BIG BEE
FRENCH TEXT (shown at the top of the tag in brown ink)
LEAF
WORLD ALL HER OWN
(The background pattern by the way is from part of a Tim Holtz embossing plate with loads of 'stuff' thrown over it and scrawled into it.)
Now for the tricky bit...what era...haven't a clue..maybe late 40's (country worn out shabby-chic-ness? Early 50's with the beginning of the American influence(?) I don't know, I think I failed on the classic 'vintage look'....but its looking pretty old anyway lol...
Don't forget, its CERTAINLY worth entering the challenge as there's a HUUUUUUUUUUGE gift vertificate up for grabs for one randomly chosen entry kindly donated by Carol at Stampotique Originals.
I can't wait to see all your Vintage looking creations!!

Nice designs Jo, love the theme and especially the background on the tag. Alas I don't yet own one Stampotique stamp !!! :-(
Lovely work Jo, I love bees and leaves, so it could have been made for me! The good news is your bee stamp has just arrived with me from Happy Daze, I am such a happy bunny!
Elaine xx
Wow Jo your Tag is unbelievable.
So many great details and your bee stamp is perfect for this. Love it.
I will work today :)
oh I just love this its just so effective so much to see that bee stamp I just love one amazing creation hun hugs cheryl xxx
I really love your interpretation of "vintage". It's beautiful!
vintage schmintage! who know what it means anymore? I love what you did! no idea at the moment what I will do, but I'm pretty sure it will involve distress inks!
Wow that Bee look real !
lovely work
this is amazing
Beautiful! Thanks for showing the close-ups so we can see the detail (bee is incredible! and the fussy cutting - I would certainly have lopped off a leg or two by accident). Yes, definitely mid-40s in that Mysterious Place. Bees were a strong design influence there at that time. Clever of you to bring that in.
If my Stampotique order arrives in time, I will certainly enter the challenge. I have an idea for Vintage already.
Great tag!
I love your vintage tag............no matter how old it is......it is lovely!!! I love the bee of course and the distressed look. That's kind of how I interpreted the challenge. Distressed it up a bit and added some lace! I don't do vintage very often.......but I suppose I would even call it shabby chic?
I definitely HAVE to be Eric.......Cause if Mort had a Pincurl was my friend, I'd have to squeeze him all the time (BIG GRIN)......I'm not sure what I like the best, the stamp, or the name of the stamp~
Hugs
Vicki
I love this, Jo - vintage, perfect to me - just the right amount of distress. Your background is stunning.
Gorgeous tag, Jo - it's got a vintage feel to me! (And by the definition you found, *I* am also vintage, so maybe I'll enter myself in the contest, LOL!) Beautiful stamps, too! ;)
very nice!!!!
I love this tag and it certainly looks vintage to me (I worked on the bung a bit of brown on technique). Love your choice of stamps, they work so well xx
