The Perfect Day

This main stamp of the poppy field is by Crafty Individuals. The scene reminds me of the time when my husband Dave suprised me with a detor home via the most spectacular poppy field nearby. Every year I would comment on the poppies when I could see them in the distance but as their life is so short I never got it together to stop and take in the view close up. Suprises like that you never forget, especially when he said 'right almost there, close your eyes' and when I opened them we'd parked right in the field entrance with a mass of red and green as far as the eye could see. :0)))

I think my love of Poppy fields stems from way back. It reminds me of growing up reading Jackie and Diana comics with the Flake ad on the telly. That was my dream, to BE that flake girl in the poppy field painting with her watercolours, making a bodge up of the painting and enjoying my Flake chocolate instead lol What a life , sun, Poppies and chocolate. Nowadays sadly I'd be worried about getting sun burnt, getting sneaked up on in the middle of the field by some weirdo and putting on yet more weight scoffing chocolate bars.

I found the ad (on You Tube courtesy of NinaOperez)! I remember it being on TV in the 70's not in the 80's as it says online in places. (ignore the fish advert that runs ahead of it- rofl!! Kind of ruins the moment but just go lalalala whilst the first ad is on lol

I create a lot of my artwork and bits and bobs from memories gone by. I think a persons life experience has a lot to do with how artwork presents itself and comes about.

The stamps I used are
Poppy Field CI-276 by Crafty Individuals (being given as a free gift this week over on Crafty Individuals website if you spend over £30.)
Big Bee, one of my stamp designs for Stampotique Originals.

I also thought there was a challenge theme too that this fitted into perfectly, but now I can't find it again lol...maybe I'll discover it as soon as I upload the post to my blog. Usually the case. :0)

I have had an ambition for years (probably since the flake advert) to take a phot of a whole field of poppies.... You do know they reckon you can work out how old you are by which flake advert you remember best!!!

Crafty individuals stamps are great, just got their new 'row of cottages', yummy!
Really like what you did with the stamps, having your bee overlapping that way is visually pleasing but you're going to need a bigger envelope, LOL, xx

That's a gorgeous stamp Jo (of the poppy field) and a fabulous card! It's funny, but I made a card using your Jasmin stamp last weekend and used a Hero Arts stamp as a background - it looks like a field of flowers. And the first thing I thought of when I made it, was that Flake advert too!

Jo, I'm the same age as you, so guess what, I remember the advert too. Poppies are my favourite flower. Your card is lovely, must check out that CI stamp! I have several of your stamps, you can check out something I have made here with your bee and butterfly stamps. Judith x

You lucky lady to have your Hubby do that for you. I don't think mine has a sentimental bone in his body, Lol!

I'm quite a bit older than you but that was my favourite of the flake adverts and that girl was just so beautiful.

Your gorgeous bee looks perfect poised ready to visit all those beautiful flowers.

What a romantic husband you have - even if it was 'ages' ago - perhaps he will surprise you again this year.

Stunning card - and I was 'right there' with you in that field (minus Stiggy).

I remember that advert so well - never did get to eat the flake in a field when I messed up a painting.

Love it

Jo, what a lovely story. :D

That particular stamp reminds me of growing up and visiting an old aunt who lived on a farm. She had a field full of red poppies, just across from her sitting room window. I spent hours in there.

Congratulations on your stamp designs and upcoming book. You've hit the big time! All credit to you, Jo. Well deserved.
