Wish you were here! TGiF and Weds Stamper

This weeks theme over on TGiF is Umbrellas. And Wednesday Stampers theme is Alter the back of a postcard.

Remembering back to my childhood, the North West holiday destinations in the UK (Blackpool, Rhyl and North Wales) were only a short drive away. These holiday destinations have all dramatically changed now from 30/40 years ago but were such fun for kids back then. I remember singing in a choir in the Tower Ballroom when I was about 13 in a national choir competition too. And we won! lol... Anyway, this theme made me do an awful lot of reminiscing...it would always rain at some point and the smell of candy floss, sea air and rain on the sand smelt fantastic to a girl from the country. (nb I chose not to mention the smell of wet donkey lol)

As you can perhaps make out from the close up (click pics to enlarge either image), I started off with the back of a written postcard but in the end, very little is showing through at all....some of the blue writing appears through the acrylic on the right and also behind the little girl to her left and along the edge.

It was because I started off with the postcard that it got me thinking about past holidays otherwise just with the umbrella theme alone it would have no doubt been a completely different composition.

Have a good weekend :0) x

It is amazing how a theme can evoke such strong memories. You have transfered them well to the piece. Gorgeous background & she really looks deep in thought.
