Roller, Stamp, Lick, Stick with Stampotique.

It's a Birthday theme over at Stampotique Originals Designers Challenge for the SDC#15.

As its the first challenge of the month you can include any stamps into your design.

I felt I'd have a go at putting together a few 'minute makes' as simplicity seems to be really on trend at the moment. I managed to get a copy of October issue Craft Stamper where my friend Joanne Wardle has an article based around blending colour through a template shape and then keeping the stamping simple ontop of that by using a dramatic stand alone image.

Inspired by that clean look and basic combination of elements I thought I would simplify it even more (application wise) by mark making the colour on the cards in a different way creating a more speedily, care free look by quickly roller inking onto cardstock instead of sponging (hence the ROLLER, STAMP, LICK, STICK title- rolling on the colour, stamp the images, in the envie, lick and stick, sorrrrrr-ted..

I came up with these particular minute makes using a selection of Stampotique images, old and brand new all stamped using a Memento Tuxedo Black ink (as thats my favourite :0) )!

For this card I rollered a panel of Willow Adirondack Light ink and stamped the new Swirl Stalks stamp and the 'birthday' part of new 'Happy Unbirthday' (by inking parts of stamps it expands their uses so you can get three from this one :0) ) both from the September range of designs in my collection and finally the large Altered Happy word to complete.

This next card (shown below)was even quicker. No careful inking of word stamps required. Roller a panel of ink taken from one of those multi striped Big and Juicy 'Happy Birthday'(aptly named for this theme) selection of colours pad. Stamp Mary , Splatter Long (from the Stampotique May releases of my range)and again the new Happy Unbirthday (this time all the wording). Happy Unbirthday can be used for all sorts of reasons....either for someone who has a birthday on the 29th Feb , for a late/missed Birthday card, or as a Just Because.

Lastly(below) for this Birthday Trio of minute makes I again rollered ink from the Big and Juicy Happy Birthday ink pad, stamped Happy Unbirthday, and then along the base of the card added Daisy Daisy. Finished with a white pen by colouring in a few petals and by drawing(almost creating a scratching-out effect) a very rough rectangle around the greeting.

Having made those I then thought lets have a go at this blending through a template lark lol...

so heres my attempt ..

Very theraputic to make if you are looking for a relaxing technique rather than the above rollered idea used in my trio which is more slap it on shove it in the envelope kind of method.

I hope you'll manage to take part in the challenge. I'd love to see what you come up with. Any stamps are fine for this week and all contributions will be entered into a draw to win A GIFT CERTIFICATE GENEROUSLY DONATED BY CAROL AT STAMPOTIQUE FOR....wait for it wait for it...

$30!!!!!!!(ie $25 on rubber $5 on shipping or $30 on rubber you pay the shipping, how ever you want to work it)

$30 !!!! What's to lose??!! See you there hopefully x

All stamps available from STAMPOTIQUE ORIGINALS in the USA or here in the UK from HAPPY DAZE.

Apologies for the poor lighting in the photographs- the crispness seems to have disappeared as 'summer' is over(although did anyone notice it start in the UK? lol)

I think this morning well and truly marked the start of Autumn for me. It was a dark, dark morning. The first time I haven't been able to get up, open the curtains and then the windows. It was still to dark at 6.30! Love the colours starting to change though.

I LOVE these cards, absolutely love them. And I think I mmight NEED that splatter stamp.

Do you not write in your cards then? Bit rude innit? *ducks*

I lost my mojo weeks ago - just couldn't find it anywhere. I looked and looked - and even got out your girly stamp to see if she could help me find it - but she looked at me from the desk - and I looked at her - and she tried her hardest - but in the end her 'knowing' smile said it all - so I put her back in her drawer - and she looked rather relieved.

And there she has stayed snuggled up alongside all your other stamps - until now.

Well until tomorrow - at it's bedtime. I do truly believe that these lovely cards will kick start my mojo - and vow to have a got at them tomorrow - (unless the lawn mower comes back from the repairers - in which case I will be mowing 200ft of allotment!

I really do want to have a go at these - they look so fresh - so inviting - and I do hope they are as easy as you make them sound.

Now where did I put my rubber roller thingy

Wonderful cards! I love brayering, but it's usually the start of a long and complicated card. I love this idea of quick and simple. I am going to try this out tonight. The tricky part, not mentioned in your post, is capturing your flair for composition!
great post - thanks for the inspiration.
