Two years! How time flies...

I received the latest copy of Stampers' Sampler today from Wendy at the Stamp Attic (thanks Wendy, the postman had delivered it to the wrong address, but I have it now :0) ) and I'm pleased to have published some 'Different Point of View' work using the Robin Script Heart by Stampington that I jointly submitted with Audrey Hernandez.

And....

was submitted TWO years ago!

So I guess the outcome of this story is that if you've ever sent work off to a magazine in the hope of being published, never give up hope! I think my style has changed quite a bit, but perhaps to those that have known me a while its still hopefully recognisable, just a bit simpler in its approach maybe.. can't help play 'spot the mistakes (cringe) and things I'd do so differently now' with these, but they are displayed really well in the magazine as always.

Although it feels a little strange posting these on here now after such a long time since I making them, I'll show them anyway :0) Theres one piece published that I'm unable to track down in my archives of photos, but here are four of the five pieces that are in the Feb/March edition of Stamper's Sampler.

the simple card....stamp, paper, vellum, rub-on, crystal

The bracelet using oddments of paper from the other pieces...

the collage piece on acetate and foam board...quite a detailed piece for me back then I remember (there is tiny writing on the leaf "The family is one of natures masterpieces")...

And finally the atc on Stampbord, covered in clear utee to create a glaze to stop it smudging...atc's really were quite new to me at this time and had only recently adapted my work to such a small scale (before the days of inchies, twinchies and moos appeared lol)

My friend Carrie has a fabulous article in there using glue(yessssss!) and Nellie and Sija have stunning coin holders in there too..big congratulations girls. Debbie Kaste, Sue Smith and Anne Swinkles are others I spotted whom I recognise and are visitors here now and again.

I also see that my friend Shannon Sawyer is lined up for next editions Guest Artist...can't wait to see that especially as the article in this months is really beautiful and sneak peek of the GA work is so gorgeous. Shannon- we got letters in their too :0) )

Off to take a good look at the mag- no doubt I've missed out on a few names on what was a quickie look earlier...isnt it great to be able to go- oooo theres so and so, and I know her....and her....and oooooooooooooo :0)

As luck would have it too, this weeks Lots to do challenge theme is ...'In Stitches' and as the stamp has stitches all around it I thought it would fit nicely :0)

These do look great Jo. Although they are 2yrs old, I can still see your style in them, I don't think you've changed your style so much but developed it.

Have to agree with Deb - I can spot your work mile off (in a nice way..worried that sounded 'a bit off'lol) you do have a very distinct style and its developed/ been refined - I soooo love that bracelet...its totally gorgeous and something I'd love to own if I could!
Congrats Jo xx

Congrats Jo! I have had the cringe moments when something of mine shows up years later. It's amazing how much we change as artists in such a short time. I try to shrug - I figure, oh well, free mag anyway, lol! This issue looks really good. I need to get back into the submitting mode....

Congrats on being published- again! These are stiil absolutely gorgeous, Jo, even if they are two years old! I really love the bracelet.
Just to make you laugh, I first remember seeing your work in the first issue of Simply Stamping, which, as a scrapbooker, I had bought out of curiosity. I was so scared by the techniques and quality of the work in the mag, I didn't buy it for a year, although it did start me thinking about stamping. Then when I saw your blog for the first time, I thought 'I have seen that style before', checked the mag, and there you were! I'm still impressed by your work, but now I am not as scared lol!

How nice. I do see the difference in style! I love the bracelet and the idea of using utee on an ATC. I'll have to stop at the book store on my way home from church.

You've been busy Jo, beautiful projects! Congrats on another pub and I just love that bracelet!! I am dying to try making some jewellry and need to figure out where to buy the little metal frames. Oh, and this is the
2nd time this week I've seen mention of "stampbord". The Somerset Studio had an articile on making ATC's using Stampbord and "sooting". I'm very intrigued!! What is Stampbord??? haha

Great looking projects! I had the same experience with Stampington for the Dec/Jan issue, I thought the pieces were long gone, but they turned up after just over two years!! You never can tell :)

I just got this mag Jo (I was swapping mags with a US stamper and this happened to be the one she sent). Your projects look great in print and the vintage/collage style of the stamp means that it's not prone to look "dated" a couple of years down the line - good choice!
