A first for me...

Today the new issue of Craft Stamper is on sale (although because of the holiday period theres been a delay here it seems as I havent managed to get a copy from the local shop yet- boooooooo). Anyway, that aside, guess what? Not only did I have an amazing end to my crafting year in 2008 but now a brilliant start to 2009, as my main recycled piece from my article made the front cover!! A first time for me (not counting the odd corner picture now and again), so I'm really pleased *yesssss*.

I'm unable to show any complete images of the work in the article, but here are a couple of sneek peeks.

A couple of days ago I was playing around with the idea of my main piece for the Craft Stamper article and came up with a variation on the theme. Here I flattened a kitchen roll tube (we seem to get through quite a lot of kitchen roll ) to create a different form of 'card'- only its a 3D in-the-round piece that is decorated all over. The theme over on Theme Thursday is 'Something New' and this contains new buttons, thread, heart (part of a gift from Joanne, thankyou :0) ) stencil, ribbon and idea (for me anyway).

The back is also decorated (although I'm not sure what happened to the colour in the photograph)

I can see me making lots more of these. I love the fact that both front and back are decorated and that they can be made any size depending what tube you use. I have a few of the long christmas wrapping paper tubes left over which can be also used or of course there are the shorter cardboard tubes which we all have now and again :0)
The finished articles are pretty robust, more so than a card, and stand well.

I hope you manage to grab a copy of the magazine. It looks to be a fabulous issue with contributions from many of my past and present forum friends including Joanne W, Isa, Penny B, Lana, Sid and Gail. Also a chance to win a copy of Hermine's new book (which I'm going to HAVE to buy as it looks fantastic. Apologies if I've missed anyone I know off te list- once I get a copy I'll know :0)

Love what you've done with loo rolls (go on admit it, that's what they are really, lol lol)
I knew you'd find those bits useful and do something fab with them.

What a great idea, Jo, all those little rolls normally get thrown in the rubbish. Gorgeous work on it, too.

I had to let you know how much I love all your cards in the Stamper's Sampler! They are all really beautiful and very inspiring to me! Your description of where you live in the British countryside makes me want to go there. I've been to a lot of places in this world, but someday I want to go to England. That is where many of my ancestors came from and I really want to see it someday! Happy New Year to you and your family!

woooooohooooooooo - congratulations on a very deserving front cover. I tried to get a copy today but boooooo from me too as it wasn't in. I might have to queue after seeing the sneak peeks. As for your fabulous recycled roll, I think I will have to turn back time and sneak the idea for myself, its too fabulous, I adore the colour combination, the images and the whole concept. Well done again Jo and very well deserved.

Congratulations and well done! Fab idea with the empty roll - it looks gorgeous. Now I'm irritated because I haven't got an empty roll - may have to make a few extra trips to the smallest room

Well done Jo! I picked up a copy of this issue of CS only today...it looks full of good stuff.
I LOVE that you have made use of a tube from kitchen roll. I've always felt I should be able to use them for something every time I throw one in the bin.
I'm going to give this a try - thanks for showing us!

This Roll Card is amazing - another fabulous idea and definitely on to use again and again and SO unusual. And I will try cutting different lines on the upper part (eg diagonal/curvy etc) and dangling all sorts of things.....*sigh*
Thanks for the inspiration
